Lyle Bramblet's Obituary
Pastor Jewel Lyle Bramblet passed away June 15, 2006 at 5:33AM at the age of 88. Pastor Bramblet was born on July 15, 1917 in Maxwell, Montana and was raised in the agricultural area known as  The RidgeÂ' above Lewiston, Idaho.Called to the ministry at the age of 17, he graduated from the Multnomah School of the Bible and Whitworth College and attended Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1944 he moved to Pasco, Washington where he founded the First Baptist Church of Pasco and met and married Betty Jo Champie of Ellensburg, Washington. In 1951 he moved with his family to Los Angeles Ca. to attend the LABTS and to found the Norwalk Baptist Church. In 1958 he was called to the Clover Creek Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA, where, with his brother Jim Bramblet, he founded the still thriving Tacoma Baptist School. In 1963 he was called to Whitney Baptist of Boise, ID. During his 12 years at Whitney he constructed the new building currently in use to this day. In 1975, Pastor and Mrs. Bramblet moved to Opportunity, WA, where they founded the Opportunity Baptist Church. After several years of semi-retirement during which they assisted the Baptist Home Mission Board, they moved to North Bend, WA where they founded the Grace Baptist Church. He then retired and moved to Tacoma, WA where he remained active in the ministry, both preaching and teaching. He was a regular Sunday School teacher at Mt. Tahoma Baptist Church in Lakewood, WA and also taught church planning at the Northwest Baptist Seminary.Pastor Bramblet is survived by his wife Betty Jo Bramblet; his brother and wife Jim and Vivian Bramblet; his sisters and their husbands: Fern and Volney Miller and Mary and Cecil Rogers; son James Bramblet; son John W. Bramblet and wife Yu Li Bramblet; daughter Joanne Johnson; daughter and husband Janet and Jack Davenport; his 13 grandchildren: Michelle Ashley, Amber Tomlinson, Justin Tomlinson, Mathew Bramblet, Stephen Bramblet, Sarah Bramblet, Tiffany Halvorson and husband Erik, Kristine King, Timothy King and wife Angel, Jennifer Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Jesse Davenport and Jackie Davenport; his 5 great-grandchildren: Jayce King, Rayne King, Serenity Balthazar, Lauren Jercan and Anaya Keyes.Visitaion will be Friday, June 23, 2006 from 1:00pm until 9:00pm at Mountain View Funeral Home.Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Mt. Tahoma Baptist Church, Lakewood, WA
