Lyla was called home to our Heavenly Father peacefully andwas surrounded by her family Jan. 4, 2009 in Yelm, WA. She was born July 13, 1916 in New England, ND to Carl and Amanda Moen. Lyla was raised in Aneta, ND and graduated from Devils Lake School of Nursing in 1940 with a Registered Nurses degree. She moved to Tacoma, WA on 1/3/1941. Lyla married John Fugich Jr. 1/3/1942 in Tacoma and at the time of dads passing on 1/11/2004 had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Lyla was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Yelm, WA. She was a 50+ year member and Past Worthy Matron at Ivy Chapter Order of Eastern Star in Tacoma. She was an accomplished poet, loved to dance with "Daddy" do crossword puzzles, crafts and sewing. Laughter she said was her best medicine. Lyla attributed her long life to love of God, family and friends. She was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was known for her Norwegian delicacies she made during the holiday seasons. Lyla is survived by her son Jerry Fugich (Betty) and daughter Carla Ann Fugich Smith (Scott) both of Yelm, WA. 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Fugich Jr., parents Carl & Amanda Moen, brothers George Gardner, Kirmit Moen, Harlen Moen and sister Adeline (Meon)EBever. Funeral will be at Mt. View on Thurs., Jan. 8, 2009 @ 12 noon in the Garden Chapel. Reception to follow in the Willow room. In lieu of flowers donations to Breast Cancer or National Kidney Foundation
