Luke T. Bryant's Obituary
Luke T. Bryant Entered Heaven on Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Tacoma. He was born in Orlando, Florida on May 20, 1927 to Lawrence A. Bryant and Pearl Wright. Luke was drafted into the army and transferred to Fort Lewis in 1946. It was there that he met and married his love, Maggie Simmons. They were married for 57 years. Luke was a loving husband, father grandfather, and friend. After finishing barbering school, Luke was employed by the Veterans Administration and worked there for 37 years as well as having his own shop on Tacoma Ave. Upon retiring from the V.A. he barbered in his home until he was physically unable to do so. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 64 years and loved every opportunity he had to attend. Luke is survived by two daughters, Candace Cooper and Gwendolyn Gilbertson, two grandsons, Jesse and Joel Gilbertson, two brothers, Lawrence (Alene) Bryant, Jerry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation begins on Thursday, Jan. 20th from 2-9 PM at Mt. View Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00AM, Friday, Jan 21st, 2011 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 4818 E. Portland Ave. Interment at Mt. View Memorial Park.
