Luis Felix Figueroa

Luis Felix Figueroa, age 74, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
He was born on July 26, 1951, to Felix S. Figueroa and Maria Teofila Davila Figueroa in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was the oldest of six siblings and their only son. In 1965, at around age 14, the family relocated to Tacoma, Washington.
Luis graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. He spent much of his career as an industrial laborer, working the last 35 years at Tomlinson Linen Service before retiring at age 70. He took pride in his work and loved earning a living.
A homebody at heart, Luis enjoyed TV and movie marathons, gardening, and decorating for the holidays. He traveled back to Puerto Rico and visited places like Palm Springs and Las Vegas, and he loved camping. He also enjoyed socializing at local watering holes and celebrating special occasions, especially his birthday.
Family was very important to Luis. Growing up, his sisters could go nowhere unless he was along per their father’s orders, so he often negotiated chores in exchange for his company. He was their advisor and a shoulder to cry on.
Luis shared a loving partnership of 27 years with David Vanover until David’s passing seven years ago. About 15 years ago, they welcomed Derick Petitt into their household after the loss of his partner John. Together, they supported each other through life’s journey and cared for David in his final years. Luis often said Derick was the brother he never had.
Luis is survived by his friend and partner Derick Petitt; sisters Maria Thom, Brenda Figueroa (Paul), Sandra McDaniel, and Kathy Figueroa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Anna Gilbert (Thomas), and past partner David Vanover.
Remember Luis with fondness and happiness. He lived a full, joyful life filled with love. His kind and caring soul will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home on December 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Garden Chapel.
