Lucy M. Kelly's Obituary
"Sweet Lucy"
Lucy MaeE(Rogers) Kelly
"Sweet Lucy" lived a long and fruitful life. She left us February 11, 2010 to join her daughter Deoris Carrere and two prior husbands in Heaven at age 94. Born June 29, 1915. She was one of the Johnson Girls' of Arcadia, Florida. Joseph and Minnie Johnson taught their six girls and one boy to be respectful and love the Lord. A true Southern Bell, Lucy had a flare for glamour, she was elegant, polite, and had a deep love for family and friends. Sweet Lucy married Lee Grant Rogers, Sr. and moved their daughter, Deoris and son, Lee Jr. to Tacoma, Washington in 1941. At age 39 she gave birth to her youngest son Rodney. Lucy and Lee worked hard to raise their family. They tirelessly cleaned building after-hours, worked odd jobs, with Lucy retiring after many years with the Tacoma Mall. Lee Sr. passed away in 1966. Lucy kept busy and loved being in the public eye. She excelled to become Most Worshipful Grand Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Stars Masonic Lodge, and a lifelong member at Allen AME Church. Lucy married Leon Kelly in 1974 and lived a wonderful retired life as Grandmother to countless family members. She is survived by her sons Lee Grand Rogers Jr. and Rodney Tony Rogers, and a multitude of grandchildren around the country. Public viewing is 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Mountain View Memorial Park. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Allen AME Church, 1223 MLK Blvd., Tacoma, WA. 98405. 11:00 AM Eastern Star Ceremony, 12:00 PM Public Services. Interment.
