Lucille Murphy, 88, surrounded by her loving family, departed this life on October 7, 2013 in Tacoma, WA. She was born May 2, 1925 to Nettie Garner and Emmanuel Williams in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She later moved to New Jersey where she met & married Donald Murphy. Much Later, she moved to Tacoma, Washington to be near her daughter Marjorie.
Lucille had a kind and loving soul. She was always sympathetic towards the needs of others. Every one she came in contact with always had kind words to say about her. Some people called her Santa Claus because she gave so much unconditionally.
Lucille, like so many others in her generation, only had a 6th grade education. Her lack of a formal education was not apparent as she had a PHD in knowing how to enjoy life and a Masters Degree in caring about the welfare of others. Lucille led a well rounded life until her life was tragically changed by a stroke.
She was a member of The Order of Eastern Stars, New Jersey District. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, singing, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Lucille was well known as a jack of all trades and a master of gardening.
Lucille was predeceased by loving parents Nettie & Emmanual; Siblings James, Gladys and Walter; Daughter Marjorie Snyder; Son James Flemings; Grandsons Omar Murphy and Clifton Web. She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Daughters Rosa Woodard, Donna Thomas and Tyrell Murphy of New Jersey, Anita Maxwell and Alison Robinson of Tacoma; Sons Donald, Wayne and Quinton Murphy of Tacoma; Sister Lillian Hicks; Brother John Mason; Grandchildren Cynthia, Joyce, Eric, Dewayne, Shari, Albert, Kia, Lonnie, Temeka, Faheem, Tonette and a plethora of great-granchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
