Lucille Jackson's Obituary
Lucille Jackson 89, of Tacoma, WA, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1931 to Shedrick and Bertha Doplemore of Tangipahoa County, Independence, Louisiana. Ms. Jackson was a devoted member of St. John Church Transformation Ministries, formerly known as St. John Baptist Church for over fifty years. She was a dedicated member of the Usher Board, The Mother’s Group, and the Noon Day Bible Study. She was one of the original members that initiated The Luncheon Program for the Noon Day Bible Study and mentored youth for the Usher Board.
After graduating high school, Ms. Jackson pursued a nursing degree in the State of California. She started as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. She continued her career working at American Lake Veterans Hospital and as the head nurse for Matthew Haynes Trust LLC for over thirty years. She was a founding member of the Ebony Nursing Association of Tacoma and enjoyed mentoring young nurses and volunteering in her community. Ms. Jackson retired in 2010 after fifty years in the field. While retired, she pursued her love of traveling, cooking, reading, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. As a result of her generous spirit, she was loved by many.
Ms. Jackson was predeceased by her parents Shedrick and Bertha Doplemore, her son Larry Jackson, her sister Gustine Barnett, and her brothers Shedrick Doplemore Jr. and Edgar Doplemore Sr. She is survived by her children: Ronald Jackson, Gail (James) Flewellen, and Ruben (Lala) Jackson; her brother: Leo Coleman; grandchildren: Lisa Rivera, LaNesha Banyard, LaTasha Banyard, Tiffany (Antonio) Reynolds, Ronald Banyard, Corey Lauman, Travis Jackson, Isaiah Lalau, Hope Lalau, and Faith Jackson. Eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, her beloved niece, Yvonne Price, nephew, Edgar Doplemore and a host of family and friends. Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, Lakewood, WA 98499 on April 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
