Lucille Daughtry's Obituary
Mother Lucille Daughtry was born on September 27, 1929 in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Joe and Caroline Sanders. She was the second of seven children and attended schools in Maryland. She was married to James E. Daughtry on July 31, 1956 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin and traveled the world with him in the United States Army. Final duty station Fort Lewis, Washington, making their home in Lakewood, WA. They became members of St. John Baptist Church in 1967.
Mother Lucille graduated from Seattle University with an associate degree in nursing. After graduation, she started a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the American Lake Veterans Hospital. She retired after 30 years of service. After her retirement Lucille remained actively involved in St. John Baptist Church as a nurse and enjoyed traveling.
She was a giving person, loved caring for the sick and a strong family leader. She was a member of the American Nurse Association. Her hobbies were sewing, nursing and advising friends and families.
She leaves to cherish her memories one sister Maglene Pannell of Baltimore, MD; two brothers Charles Sanders of Jamestown, SC and Rev. Harry Simmons (Bernice) of Charlotte, NC; a niece Patricia Day of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law Janie Cantry of Manning, SC; brother-in-law Beverly Wade of Baltimore, MD and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special friends Henriette Young of Tacoma, WA and Grace Ash of Lakewood, WA.
Mother Lucille Daughtry will be deeply missed.
Family will receive family and friends for a visitation at 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 10th at Mountain View Funeral Home.
A Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, January 11th at St. John Baptist Church; 2001 South J. Street, Tacoma, 98405. A graveside committal will immediately follow at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park; 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, 98499.
