Lu Swanson's Obituary
Lu Swanson “went home” on the 1st of September and joined her husband of 60 years Leland "Lee" Swanson who preceded her in passing on March 17th 2018. Lu was born January 20, 1928 in Park River, North Dakota to Carl and Gunda Olson. Lu headed to Washington in her red Ford convertible to visit her sister and claim her new title as "Aunt Lu". She stayed and made the northwest her home when she met “Uncle” Lee and they married on June 11, 1958. They lived in Lakewood, Washington where their daughter Kari was born. Later they moved to Puyallup and made it their home for 40 years. Lu made her career at American Federal Savings and Loan, where she retired as a VP. In retirement, Lu was a faithful servant of Hope Lutheran in Tacoma and later Pilgrim Lutheran in Puyallup. Lu also took up oil painting at which she was a natural talent and painted many beautiful paintings. She was also known to play a round or two of golf and she was an avid fan and whiz at Jeopardy, where her competitive nature kicked in when you watched with her.
She is survived by her daughter Kari Doubet (Harold) of Puyallup, Washington, grandson Eric Doubet (Kelsey) of Tigard, Oregon and brother Morgan Olson (Yvonne) of Puyallup, Washington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her their “Aunt Lu” and held a very special place in her heart.
In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to Pilgrim Lutheran church or Elbe Lutheran church.
