Loyd was born in Driscoll, ND to Ben and Bernice Orne. He moved to Washington in 1956, graduated from PLU in 1961, and worked in the Tacoma School district as a teacher, administrator, and vice principal until his retirement in 1991. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dale and Jimmy, and sister Nancy. He is survived by his wife, Connie, daughters Carla (Dale) Boyd and Anita (Russ) Bagley, grandson Nathan, sister Ruby Wilson, brother Dick (Vonnie) Orne, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be November 15, at 3pm in the Aspen Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation.
