Lowell Dean Kaup
Passed away on June 9, 2017. He was born the eldest of seven children in Alma, NE on September 16, 1928 to Meredith and Edith Kaup. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA. He served proudly with the U.S. Marines, Navy, Air Force Reserves, and the Seabees. He worked for the City of Tacoma for 26 years before retiring in 1990.
He enjoyed bowling, spending time with his family, traveling, and camping. He loved watching sports, particularly hockey, soccer, and football. He was almost never without a western novel in his hands or in a pocket. He loved working jigsaw puzzles and doing word-finds. He was a foster parent of many children throughout the years, hosted several exchange students, and was a “second dad” to many of the kids’ friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Avis and brother Gail. He leaves his wife Barbara of 59 years, two sons David (Donna) and Brian (TJ) and a daughter Louise Castle (Jeff), eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters Wilda Zirkle and Ardis Randolph and brothers Wayne and Harlan, along with many nieces and nephews.
