Louise Lauer's Obituary
Louise Lauer passed peacefully, marking the end of ninety three vigorous years. Born Louise Marian Purdy in 1920, she attended Stadium High School, and following family tradition, attended First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. In 1942 she married Rubert von Walter, and they had a son, Mark. Tragically, she was widowed in 1946. Louise married Don Lauer in 1954 and started a new family with two more children, Dick and Donna.
Music and art were passions of hers. She volunteered at Tacoma Philharmonic, and at Tacoma Art Museum where she was a docent. For the last 51 years she lived at Southwind, and her waterfront home on the Peninsula, where she was a horsewoman and an avid gardener. She was a certified Master Gardener and active in the local garden club.
Her passion for living as well as her grace and elegance will be remembered by her sons Mark von Walter, Dick Lauer, and daughter Donna Bennett, as well as extended family and dear friends.
