Louis Jay Wade's Obituary
Louis Jay Wade, age 88, a long time resident of Lakewood, WA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was born on March 12, 1928 in Cloudy, Oklahoma to parents John and Mary Wade. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Michiko Anzai of Yokohama, Japan. He is also survived by his two daughter's Patricia of Lakewood, WA and Kathy Thatcher of Tacoma, WA. Two grandchildren Jessica Thatcher and Daniel Thatcher both of Tacoma, WA, sisters Gladys Williams, Joyce Brady, and Shirley Wright of McMinnville, Oregon and a brother Ernest of Kennewick, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Wade of Dayton, Oregon, and a brother Robert of McMinnville, Oregon, a sister Alpha Phipps of Willamina, Oregon and a sister Joann Ray of McMinnville, Oregon.His family were cotton and peanut famers. When he was fifteen his parents moved the family to Phoenix, Arizona in search of a drier climate for their mother's health. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and became a career soldier in Korea, France and Japan.
July 17, 1953, he married Michiko in Yokohama, Japan. Moving back to the states, settling to Lakewood, Washington while stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington he retired from the Army after 20 years of service. After his retirement from the military he gained employment as a civilian through Civil Service at Fort Lewis Logistics Center. He enjoyed spending time in his small vegetable garden and spent many hours learning the fine art of growing and cultivating Bonsai trees. Louis was a devoted family man and dearly loved his grandchildren.
At his request, there will be no funeral service.
