Lorraine T. Cites' Obituary
She died as she lived...with grace and dignity. Born to Fred and Celia Thompson in Woodstock, IL, Lorraine was raised on a cattle ranch in Nebraska along with her six siblings. She attended Montana State College, where she was a member of AOTT sorority and National Honorary Spurs. She met and married Lewis J. Cites in 1934, resided in Oak Park and Woodstock, finally settling in Tacoma. After her retirement as Business Manager at Annie Wright Seminary in 1975 she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 54 years, the Mayflower Society, and Mary Ball Chapter of DAR. Her sweet spirit and unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her four daughters, Judy (Jim Wilke), Mary Jane (Ken Schulz), Cindy (Roger Bumps), and Sandy (Michael Fox), seven grandchildren, Scott (Millie), Stacy, Joshua (Kim), Leah, Jake, Katie, and Sarah, and three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Izzy, and Cooper. "Good-bye Grandma Great, we'll see you in Heaven" Spoken by youngest great-grandchild, Cooper, as he left her side. The family wishes to thank Dr. Alex Mihaly for his continued care and concern for Mother over the years, as well as the dedicated staff at Franke Tobey Jones for their loving care these past four years.
A celebration of Lorraine's life will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 1:00 in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church.
The family suggests contributions to First Presbyterian Church Camp Scholarship Fund, Franke Tobey Jones Charitable Subsidy, or Tacoma Rescue Mission.
