Lorraine Plankers' Obituary
Wife of former Democratic Chairman of Pierce County Lorraine Plankers passed away peacefully Sunday, March 6 at the age of 95. Dewey Plankers was her husband and a popular political figure of the county and state in the 1950's and 1960's. Upon his passing Lorraine moved to California staying out of the political limelight and spending time volunteering at various organizations in Sacramento, California.
Lorraine grew up in Tacoma until high school where she graduated from the Dallas, Oregon. She returned to Tacoma where she graduated from cosmetology school and met the love her life, Dewey. Throughout Dewey's military career and after he retired from service, the family would continually return to Tacoma or nearby towns (Puyallup and Bremerton) to live until her husband passed.
She is predeceased by her husband, her sons Robert Plankers and Dewey Patrick Plankers, and her grandson Charles Maloyed. She is survived by her son Michael Plankers, daughters Sharon Plankers, Lynda Maloyed and Debby Massie plus many grand children, great grand children and even a great great grandson. Her sense of humor, bridge played abilities and love of people will make her sorely missed by all who knew her. She will be finally able to rest beside her beloved husband.
Graveside services will be held for her and her son Dewey Patrick Plankers April 30 at the Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakeview at 1:30pm. Please contact her daughter Debby at (916) 212-2670 if you wish to attend.
I also understand you can leave a remembrance on this site if you so wish.
