Lorraine Marie Leonard's Obituary
Lorraine Marie Leonard (97) of Enumclaw, formerly of Tacoma and Auburn, passed away on July 12, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Lorraine was born July 10, 1917 in Minneapolis, MN to Henry J. and Delima “Dolly” (Trepanier) Thibeault. She married O.T. “Jock” McOmber in August 1934 and had two children, both who proceeded her in death, Kay Lorraine (1936-63) Lyons and Lee Roy Tyrus (1941-2012) McOmber. Lorraine later wed Champ Harris in 1945 and enjoyed over 25 years of marriage where they lived in Gig Harbor before his passing in 1993. At the time of her death Lorraine had been married for over 10 years to her dancing partner Oscar Leonard, of Auburn, who preceded her in death in 2014 at the age of 95.
A lifelong resident of Washington Lorraine enjoyed a full life enriched by her extended family and her wide circle of friends. She was committed to and served in many capacities organizations such as the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Girl Scouts of America. Lorraine loved bowling and dancing, both activities she participated in up until her later 80s and into her 90s. She loved life and loved sharing her hugs, an infectious smile and laughter, or a sweet kiss. Lorraine touched all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Those that will miss her the most include her loving granddaughter Michelle M. (McOmber) and husband Michael R. Licari of Port Orchard, great-grandchildren Rikki L. LeBlanc of Port Orchard, Jeremiah J. and his wife Tracie LeBlanc of Bremerton and their child Andrew J. (Lorraine’s great-great grandson). She will additionally be missed by daughter-in-law Rita Dean (Redding, CA) her step-daughters Sharon and husband Steve Fant (Auburn), Rosanne (Harris) and husband Dick Brown (Tacoma), Sally (Harris) and husband Sam Scroggs (PA), a host of close friends, other family members include a sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and her Eagles fraternity brothers and sisters.
Additionally, preceding her in death were two brothers Charles (Chuck) G. (1985) and Lawrence (Larry) R. (1991) Stanton.
A celebration of life memorial will take place August 30, 2014 at the Port Orchard Eagles Aerie #2338. Lorraine will be honored in ceremony by the Tacoma FOE #3 Ladies Auxiliary. She will be interred with her daughter Kay Lorraine Lyons at Calvary Cemetery Tacoma. Arrangements are being handled by Mountain View Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3, S. Tacoma Way or to any charity of choice.
