Lorraine J. Rowe's Obituary
Lorraine J. Rowe (91), born to Elmer and Kate Schaefer on March 19, 1915 in Schaller, IA, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2006 in University Place WA. She married W. Kenneth Rowe on February 19, 1938 in Iowa, and they were married for 49 years, moving from Iowa to Portland, OR in 1950, and to Tacoma in 1954. Kenneth preceded her in death in 1987.Lorraine began teaching in a one room school in Sac City, Iowa and upon moving to Tacoma, taught in the Clover Park School District from 1954 until retiring in 1977.Lorraine is survived by two sons and a daughter: Ron (Susie) Rowe of Seattle, Carol (Doug) Brown of Lakewood, and Lee (Diana) Rowe of Puyallup. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, a sister, Margaret Hansen (Iowa), a brother, Roger Schaefer (Idaho), and numerous nieces and nephews.Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 24 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, Tacoma, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Contributions, J5-200, P0 Box 19024, Seattle, WA 98109-1024.
