Lorraine F. Healy's Obituary
Lorraine F. Healy, born on January 12, 1919 passed away peacefully on September 12, 2015. Lorraine was born and lived her whole life in Tacoma, Washington. She grew up around a large extended family and shared fond memories of many family picnics and baseball games with her Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Lorraine was a hard worker all her life, her first job at VanDe Kamps Bakery was followed by a short time as a “Rosie Riveter” and then a secretary at the Naval base during WWII.
Lorraine married the love of her life, Edward, on June 24, 1944. After she was married, besides being a homemaker, Lorraine worked as a secretary at Travelers Insurance Co. for several years and also worked for the Postal Service during the Christmas season a couple of years. But always, the most important things in Lorraine's life were her family and friends.
Over the years, Lorraine's hobbies included belonging to a card club, in a bowling league and a member of the Hammond Organ Society. Later in life, she became an avid word puzzle solver and loved to read mysteries.
Lorraine was a big Mariners fan and thanks to her nephew, Todd, treasured the memory of viewing a game in person.
Animals of all kinds were loved by Lorraine, but she had a special love for dogs.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her sister, Eloise and her loving husband Edward. She is survived by her sister, Shirley of Federal Way, her son, Tom and his wife, Judy, her daughter; Susan, and grandchildren; Ryan, Matthew and Shaun.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Ocean Breeze Adult Family Care home for their wonderful care of Lorraine in her last months.
A graveside service for Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2015 at 11:30AM. At Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park; 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W., Lakewood, WA.
