Lorne M. Wilson's Obituary
Lorne Wilson passed into the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ in Allenmore Hospital at 4:45 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the age of 90 from complications of COPD, Emphysema and kidney failure .
Lorne was born on November 14, 1928, in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, the second child of Webster and Marjorie Emigh. He had a sister, Joyce, one year older, and a sister, Murial, one year younger. During their childhood their mother remarried to Don Wilson, who adopted them, giving them name of Wilson. In 1945, when Lorne was 17, the family made the cross-country trek to Vancouver, then to Los Angeles, California, singing, dancing and performing as the Yoakum’s, the comic-strip family of Lil’ Abner.
Lorne became a Christian at the Rosemead Church of Christ, where he met Ruth Harris, the love of his life. They were married, August 5,1956, for 61 years and 1 day. They raised three children: Thomas, Susan and Cynthia.
Lorne was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, who died August 6, 2017, by his parents, his younger sister, Murial, and a great granddaughter, Emily Henderson.
Lorne is survived by his three children: son and his wife Thomas and Rebecca Wilson and two daughters and their husbands Susan and Dennis Kreiss, and Cynthia and John Burnett. He was also “grandpa” to 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Lorne received his high school diploma and Bachelors degree in the same year. A few years later, he graduated with a Masters degree in English from Pepperdine University. He taught and administrated in several Christian schools on the West Coast, then became a successful businessman in real estate and vending machines. He took his family across the United States twice, first as young children, then as teenagers in a VW van, as well as multiple camping, swimming, and water skiing experiences. He was a good provider, father and teacher. Lorne loved his wife, all his family, and his close friends of Rainier View Christian Church at the Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study and Joy Givers.
Even as his health failed and his memory diminished, as long as his eyes were opened, he would smile and remember all his family and friends even to his last hours.
Lorne and Ruth served the Lord together in many and various churches in music, teaching and common service. He trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior from his sins all the way to the end of his life
