Lorna Jean McGraw's Obituary
Lorna Jean McGraw, born in Tacoma on April 5, 1924 daughter of Esther and Wallace Macpherson, passed away October 31, 2016 at Franciscan Hospice House. Jean grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Stadium High School. In 1945 she married Tom McGraw. As a third generation of the Macpherson’s Federal Bakery, she worked at the bakery specializing in decorating wedding cakes.
Jean belonged to Nesika, the oldest women’s study club in the Tacoma area. She was a member of University Place Presbyterian Church where she served as a librarian and chair of the memorial service team for many years. Jean and Tom enjoyed many friendships as members of Fircrest Golf Club. Those same friends often joined them at the Washington coast for family clamming vacations.
Jean is survived by her sister Donna Rood, daughters Suzanne (Drake) Greene, Molly (Alan) Gruse and Lindy Carlson along with 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
There will be a private graveside service. The memorial service will be held at University Place Presbyterian Church 8101 27th St. W. on Monday, November 14 at 2 PM.
