Lonna L Muirhead's Obituary
Lonna L. Muirhead, beloved wife, mother, and sister, was born on July 7, 1941 in Morton, Washington to Alice and Louis Woolery. She passed away in Tacoma on August 14, 2023. Lonna spent most of her early years in Tacoma with her Mom and brother. For a number of years they lived near 12th and Adams where she found many life-long friends. Her class in 1958 was the first to graduate from the newly built Wilson High School (Silas HS). One day she happened to be in the bus station and saw a cute guy who was working there. That fellow was Ben and on October 1, 1960, they married. They settled in Tacoma and eventually moved to Port Angeles to raise their son and daughter. Both she and Ben loved the natural beauty of that area. She loved to camp (but not fish, just ask Tanya)! Their land included many tall fir trees which Lonna loved.
Lonna and Ben also enjoyed traveling to various parts of the US to visit family and friends, including California, Arizona, and Maine. After Ben died, She took a wonderful trip to Hawaii with her son, daughter and her family. In later years, she was able to cruise to Alaska, a dream of hers. Besides traveling, she spent many hours enjoying her large extended family. She also kept in contact with her many friends and enjoyed especially the class reunions.
Lonna had a number of office jobs in Port Angeles and then decided to get her Associate Degree from the nearby college. She eventually became the Clerk/Treasurer for Sequim until she retired after Ben’s death. She resettled in Tacoma to be near her brother and other family members.
Lonna is predeceased by her mother and father, her husband, Ben and her son, Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Tanya (Doug), her granddaughter, Skylar, her brother, Brian (Teresa), her sisters-in-law, Sharon, Karen, and Loretta, and many nieces and nephews. Her Service of Life will be held at the Garden Chapel Mountain View Cemetery on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11:00 am. Reception will follow at the Willow Room there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association
