Lois Hood's Obituary
Lois J. Hood, 83, of Lacey, Washington, passed away and went home to be with her husband, James (Jim) Hood, on Saturday, May 22, 2021. She was born to Ivory and Leroy Young on December 10, 1937, in Van Lear, Kentucky. In her early years, she worked first as a "keypunch" operator at Days Tailored Clothing in Tacoma. She then started working at West Coast Grocery and then SuperValu, where she retired.
She retired a little early to start travelling across the United States with her husband, Jim. During this time, Lois and Jim were heavily involved in square and round dancing, and she and Jim were members of the Hix & Chix and one other club. They were good enough to perform at the Puyallup Fair for a few years.
They enjoyed their retirement life for many years, and were snowbirds, having a park model in Mesa, AZ and a house in WA. Jim preceded her in death in August, 2012.
Lois is survived by four daughters - Carolyn (Bobbi); Gwen (Hadley); Pamela; and Sherry (Mark) and two stepdaughters, Nora Hood and Bonita Harris. She had grandchildren: Christopher Smith, Corey Smith (Angela Blocki), Heidi (who predeceased her); and Haley (Jake) Havens and Jillian (Jake) Ray; Sara Ramos, Rhiannon Ramos; David Hood; Brooke Harris and Grant Harris and many great grandchildren.
Lois had 8 brothers and sisters, and is survived by two: JoAnn Martin and Richard Young.
In her later years, mom resided in Lacey. She became a member of the Order of Eastern Star and attended meetings and fundraisers. She touched the lives of so many at her chapter, and was adored by so many there.
All of us have a little piece of mom with us. She touched many lives and was adored by all who met her.
The family will be having a reception after the completion of the graveside service on June 2,2021 at Mountain View Funeral Home. The food will be graciously provided by the neighbors of the Jubilee Community.
