Lois Earlene Ellis' Obituary
Lois E. Ellis, 94, was born July 16, 1923 to Robert and Frances McClellan in Hope, North Dakota. She peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord the morning of April 11, 2018. She was raised on a small family farm in Hope and was preceded in death by her 5 sisters and 5 brothers. In 1941, while attending a dance in Bemidji, MN she met the love of her life, Marvin Ellis. Later that year, she moved to Tacoma, WA where she worked as an enrober at Brown and Haley. All the while, she kept up an active letter exchange with Marvin. They were married October 2, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM where he was stationed in the army. Upon discharge from the service in 1945, they settled in Tacoma and together they raised two children, Susan (Mike) Byrd of Bonney Lake and Scott ( Molly) Ellis of Boise, ID. She leaves behind grandchildren Michelle (Matt) Dyer of Bonney Lake, Kastin Ellis of Sequim, Danielle Ellis and Joey Ellis both of Boise, ID and great grandchildren Austyn and Hollace Dyer of Bonney Lake. Lois assisted her husband of 67 years in the ownership and operation of Ellis’s Garage, a full service auto repair/gas station and the development of Marlo Manor (Meridian Terrace) Mobile Home Park in Graham, WA. They were active members and supported the ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. Lois was also a member of the national United Methodist Women and participated/lead multiple Bible studies over the years. She enjoyed old-time dancing, cooking, gardening, hiking and outdoor activities with her husband, family, and friends. Her passions were her faith in God through her Lord, Jesus Christ, and devotion to her husband and family. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1:00PM at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. A special thanks to our wonderful caregivers: Leslie who assisted mom at home, the staff at Spring Ridge Memory Care and Franciscan Hospice for their loving care. Memorial donations may be made to Spring Ridge or Franciscan Hospice.
