Well, Sgt. Richardson you have left this realm and have gone to see the Maker and probably greeted Him with some joke that made him laugh loud enough to shake the Earth. I know in my heart that you must have understood His grace and forgiveness and having accepted it knew that it was alright to go Home. I miss talking to you, listening to your stories and cutting your hair! Most of all I miss being your "favorite daughter" (or hearing you say that anyway) - LOL! You will be missed but certainly never forgotten. I am so happy that you and Mama were blessed to marry after so many years and grateful that I had the chance to witness the love you shared. Mr. Richardson, I have known "of" you for as far back as I can remember, but I truly got to "know" you over the past 4 years. I cannot begin to tell you the impact that you have had on my children’s lives and me!! I told "Cupcake" of your passing this evening, I couldn't bring myself to do it sooner because I know how much she loves you and I knew this would not be easy on her. She told me, "Mama since Papa passed away that means a baby was born, cause every time somebody dies a baby is born!" You told her that a few years ago and she remembered it!! FYI...Cupcake just told me that we are still going to make cupcakes every year for you, she said, "Mama we have to make 78 cupcakes next year." I begged to differ, I told her I didn't think you were that old, she corrected me and advised me that in fact, you were 77 and would be 78 next year!! I called Mama, and sure enough she confirmed your age....she knows her "Papa!" From the mouths of babes comes the truth!! She also told me that you will forever be in "our" hearts & minds!! We Love you, "Papa!"

You were the only father that I knew growing up. I was a little boy without a father and my mother married you. I was an angry and misguided boy who desperately wanted a male father figure in my life. You treated me like one of your own sons, gave me confidence in my self worth, and guided me on a pathway to manhood. I will always be entirely grateful for everything you did for me, and I will love you always and will continuously reflect on the many fond memories we shared together. Daddy, Ecclesiastes 2:24 says There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw was from the hand of GOD! As I began thinking about you this scripture can to mind. Truly you enjoyed your work and your life; And what a fun and full life we had with you, Daddy we had lot's of great times, from traveling in the vista cruiser( station wagon) playing softball on weekends at the park or backyard BBQ's with family and friends to making us all learn to play spades and or dominoes, to this day we are all pretty good at both. And then making pam and I get up early and go pick strawberries with the older kids even though we were quite young to be working I thought. Today I'm thankful because you instilled Great work Ethics in all of your children. you were funny and sarcastic in only true Lloyd Richardson fashion. so here we are at Ecclesiastes 3 To everything there is a season ,and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven. a time to be born and a time to die.
