Lloyd A. Nelson's Obituary
Lloyd A Nelson died October 23, 2014. He was born on November 14, 1923 in Independence, Washington (Rochester). His parents were August and Emma (Mattson) Nelson. He was the youngest of five children. He was co-owner and superintendent of Peninsula Plywood (PenPly) in Port Angeles, Washington until 1968. He later worked for Savage Wholesale Building materials. He was married to Muriel Y. Nelson for over 58 years when she predeceased him in 2006. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Tacoma, and had been a confirmed Lutheran as a young man. He was a member of the Elks Club, he won salmon fishing derbies and loved to play golf. He served in the Naval Reserve beginning in 1942 aboard the USS Liberty. He was a loving and dedicated husband, a wonderful father and a gentle soul. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Nelson; grandchildren Emily and Tyler Bourcier, Geoff, Colin and Trevor Nelson; and great grandchildren: Oly Bourcier and Alice, Scarlett, Tucker, Eli and Ivy Nelson. His son Ken Nelson predeceased him in 1999.
