Lloyd Milton Thompson Jr

Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend.
God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be
so he put His arm around him and whispered, "Come with me.".
Milt Passed away September 11, 2011, following a brief hospitalization.
He was born in Tacoma Washington on %/18/22 to Lloyd and Lida Dale Thompson.
He graduated from Stadium High School in 1939, and then received training from several trade schools.
He joined the Marines in May 1944 and served in the 1st Marine Air Wing, Group 12, Squadron 313 as an aircraft mechanic, attaining the rank of Staff Sargeant. He served in the South Pacific, (including Guadalcanal), the Philippines, Mindinao, and China. He received many commendations during his years of service including that of Sharpshooter.
As as means of giving back after coming home for the war he began donating blood and reached a goal of 23 gallons over his life.
He worked in the automotive, aircraft and outboard motor industries as a master mechanic.
His hobbies included photography, theater and music, starting with first chair clarinet in high school, going on to singing and acting in later years.
He was especially proud of the opportunity to play Emile DeBeck in four productions of "South Pacific" in the Tacoma area. He was also involved for most of his adult life in the Mens Orpheus choir, Cleff Dwellers, New Sound Singers, On Stage show group, and the Elks Club chorus, as well as many church choirs. His beautiful bass/baritone voice was frequently sought after for weddings and funerals.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Lida Dale Thompson, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Anita of 41 years, daughter Cheryl Thompson, son Steve Thompson, daughter Tracy Pinero, and two nieces, Blanche Claassen, (Paul) and Kathy Aitcheson. (John).
A memorial service will be held September 24th at 2pm in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy, or Make a Wish Foundation.
His ready smile and warm, loving disposition will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him
