Lloyd Edward White
Born 2-22-23 to Lloyd A. and Signe Johnson White, Lloyd passed away August 7, 2009. Lloyd attended Lowell Grade School in Old Town Tacoma until the family moved to Orting during the Depression. He graduated from Orting High School in 1941, attended CPS, (now UPS) and graduated from UW with a BSEin Mechanical Engineering. Lloyd apprenticed with his grandfather, Edward Johnson of Tacoma and worked in the shipbuilding industry in Tacoma and Seattle. His career centered on boat building activities for the US Government and commercial ventures, finishing his career at Tacoma Boat Building Company. Lloyd was a member of several organizations including Masonic Lodge Fairweather #82, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Acacia Fraternity. Lloyd is survived by his wife Helen (Haugen), daughters Laurie (Rick) Randall of Federal Way and Kim (Mitch) Mackenroth of Gig Harbor. He is also survived by his sisters Marjorie Dial (Seattle), Nancy White (Orting) and brother Donald R. White (Olympia) and was preceded in death by his brother Allen S. White, (Bremerton). The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of St. Clare Hospital, Signature Home Health Care and Heartwood Extended Care. They provided great care and compassion for Lloyd and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you take time to enjoy a visit with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
