Linnea Bostrom Fisher's Obituary
Â"The mother is everything Â- she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy and forgiveness. He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly.Â" Kahalil GibranLinnea Bostrom Fisher, born on December 7, 1913 in Max, North Dakota, received her wings on April 21, 2005 in Federal Way, WA so that she may join in Heaven, her beloved husband Eugene C. Fisher, her parents Charles and Anna Bostrom, who emigrated from Sweden in the 1880Â's, her brothers LaVerne and Roy and her sisters Evelyn Bostrom, Helen McClurg and Berniece Bostrom. Linnea, one of eight Bostrom children, was raised in the small farming community of Max where she excelled academically and graduated from high school with honors and one year ahead of schedule. She had the choice of going off to college or staying and helping her father operate the family businesses Â- the Max General Store and the International Harvester dealership. She loved her father dearly and honored his request. After several years, Linnea began her journey westward by joining her sister Geneva Woods in Denver, Colorado, and attended business college. Those were fun years - the two Bostrom sisters out on their own with the world at their doorstep. Her journey continued westward, eventually settling settling down in Puyallup, WA where she raised her two children, Bruce and Sharon, as a single parent. She worked for the law firm of Porter & Campbell as a legal secretary for over twenty years and later for the Puyallup Police Department. In 1959, Linnea remarried and happily shared her life with Eugene C. Fisher until his passing in 1986. In her years after retirement, Linnea refined her talent for cross-stitching and crocheting, creating beautifully crafted handwork. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Puyallup, belonged to several professional organizations and resided at The Foundation House in Federal Way. Most of all, she relished time spent with friends and family, especially her 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. An inspiration to all who knew her, Linnea will be remembered for her unconditional love, her strong will and her great wisdom. The family is especially grateful to the wonderful staffs at the Garden Terrace Center and The Foundation House and to Dr. Tom Cross - all of whose professional care enriched LinneaÂ's life so very much. Linnea is survived by her son Bruce Fisher (Judy) of Auburn, WA and daughter Sharon Nolan (Mike) of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren Pete and Christopher Fisher of Federal Way, WA, Heidi Schultz of Bellevue, WA, Sandi Hendrickson, of Marysville, WA and Jack Kay of Bellevue, WA; great-grandchildren Lacey, Cooper, Sawyer and Sage Fisher; Samantha Linnea Schultz; Travis and Tyler Griffith; Kirsten Hendrickson; Bryce, Trevor and Brock Kay; and sisters Geneva Woods of Olympia, WA and Edie Melhouse of Bismarck, ND.A Memorial Service to celebrate Linnea will be held on Saturday, April 30, at 2:00 PM at the Steel Lake Presbyterian Church located at 1829 South 308th St., Federal Way, WA.
