Linda Marjorie Paterson LorenzoLinda Marjorie Lorenzo was born in Cassidy, British Columbia, Canada on October 4, 1923 and passed away in Tacoma, Washington on June 12, 2003. She moved to the United States as a small child and became a naturalized citizen on May 28, 1945. Marge attended Lincoln High School in Tacoma and graduated in 1941. She attended Tacoma Community College, where she worked on an Associate of Arts degree. Marge worked for the Tacoma School District as an administrative secretary, working at Lister and Downing Elementary Schools and at Wilson High School until she retired. Marge Paterson met Donald Lorenzo at a USO dance in Tacoma in 1943 and married him on May 25, 1947 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they lived for the first years of their marriage. Marge and Don moved back to Tacoma in 1952, where Marge has lived till the present. Writing has always been important in her life. She was a member of the Tacoma Writers Club and a feature writer for the Suburban Times. She received two Sigma Delta Chi awards for her writing while she was with the newspaper. She was well known for the publication of her poems, especially in local newspapers, and was the author of two poetry books, Â"Under the Piccalilly TreeÂ" and Â"In the Shadow of the Mountain.Â"Marge was predeceased by her husband Donald Lorenzo in 1974, her parents, Janet Skilling Paterson and William Tennant Paterson, and her sister Iris Arnold.Surviving are her brother, Kenneth W. Paterson, her four children; Carol Hukari of Tarzana, California; Janet Granger of Chehalis, WA; Diane Martin of Kent, WA, Donald Lorenzo of Tacoma, WA. She also leaves six grandchildren: Lori, Erica, Jeffrey, Grant, David, and Brett, and two great-grandchildren: Andrew and Zachary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 1:00 PM in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Marge wished that donations to the American Cancer Society be made in her name, American Cancer Society, NCICFIL, PO Box 102454, Atlanta, GA 30368-2454.
