Linda C. Hundley's Obituary
Watch the Service Livestream HereLinda C. Hundley (nee McClarron) was born to Philamina (Mina) L. McClarron and Willie C. McClarron, Sr. on August 24, 1950, in Louisville, KY.
As the only girl with 6 brothers, she was an interesting combination of a daddy’s girl and a ready-to-rumble tom-girl.
Her elementary schooling was at St. Augustine Catholic School, in Louisville, KY. Due to being in a military family she also attended school on base in Trois Fontaines, France and at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. She attended high school at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma, WA and earned her G.E.D.
Her first marriage was to Samuel Johnson, in 1968 in Tacoma, WA. All three of her children were born to that union, Danielle Johnson, Dawncelie Johnson and Devielle Johnson.
“Linda, go talk to that man”; were the blunt words her mother spoke to her, when she walked into the Surgical Care Unit at Madigan Army Medical Center, in 1981. That “man” was Staff Sgt. Thomas M. Hundley, the nurse meticulously caring for her father, post-surgery. Upon discharge, her father needed home care and Staff Sgt. Hundley “volunteered” for the job. During a home care visit, her mother made him dinner. The following visit, he surprised the family with a dinner he made. Game Over!
They married on December 11, 1982, in Tacoma, WA. They spent several years stationed in Nurnberg, Germany and used the opportunity to travel to other areas of Europe.
Linda began her career in nutrition services at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. In 1983, she joined the Federal Civil Service at 98 General Hospital in Nurnberg, Germany. Upon their return to the U.S. she transferred to Madigan Army Medical Center. After 15 years of service, she retired in 1998.
Linda loved the Lord, and was never shy at sharing her unbelievable testimony. She spent her time in service to the Lord at Shiloh Baptist Church, in Tacoma, WA, as an usher and then a Deaconess in the Deaconess Ministry.
Linda’s greatest source of pride was her grandchildren. She was a fiercely protective and loving NaNa. She will remain always in our hearts, as we remember her sassy spirit, her iconic dance moves, her ultra color coordinated fashion style and that brilliant smile that brightened any room.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Sherman Stoudmire, Ruben Stoudmire, Michael McClarron and Karl McClarron, as well as her son-in-law Dion White.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Thomas Hundley; her daughters Danielle Johnson and Dawncelie White, of Tacoma, WA; her sons Devielle (Ali) Johnson of Tacoma, WA and Thomas “Jim” (Liza) Hundley of Glendale, AZ; her brothers, Willie (Lisa) McClarron, Jr. of Seattle, WA and Sonny Hamilton of Louisville, KY. She is also survived by her grandsons Darius Johnson, D’Ondre Johnson and Santana Johnson of Tacoma, WA; granddaughters Peyton Hundley of Atlanta, GA and Erin Hundley of Augusta, GA; great-grandsons Mycah Johnson and Keomani Johnson of Tacoma, WA and a whole host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family & friends.
