Lillian Russell's Obituary
Lillian M. Russell, 92 suddenly passed away on July 13th, 2010 in Tacoma, WA. Lillian was born October 17, 1917 in Swanton, VT and was educated in upper state New York. Before Marriage she was active in Junior League and professionally was a Department Store Buyer. Lillian married her high school sweetheart, Arthur J Russell, Jr (ret. SMSGT Air Force) and had seven children. Lillian was fiercely proud of her children and was an activist/volunteer in her community. Lillian's service includes: the Tacoma Orthopedic Association, Lakewood Orthopedic Guild, PTA-both local and council levels, and the American Cancer Society. She had a rich social life and was involved with: St. Francis Cabrini, the Lakewood Elks Club #2388, and the Air Force Wives' Club. Lillian loved being my father's wife, my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lillian was to her grandchildren legendary, to her children extraordinary, and to everyone else she was Lillian. She traveled extensively and was a fantastic storyteller. She owned her own business as a dressmaker/seamstress until she went to our Father. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Arthur (Art) J Russell, Jr., 2 infants and a Son William (Bill) Russell, Grandson Russell A. Delamore. She is survived by her bother Phillip McLeod(Bernise) of Clearwater,FL her sister Doris Whitehall of West Chazy, NY a son: Arthur (Jim) J Russell, III of Lakewood, WA, daughters: Christine R. Pinkham(Timothy) of Oakland, CA, Katherine R. Bond(Charles)of Berkeley, CA, Anna G. Russell (Bill) of Federal Way, WA, and Elizabeth A. Arnold(Peter) of Puyallup, WA. Grandchildren: Jesse T Russell of Lincoln City, Or, Rachel A. Mason (Charles) of Orange Park, Fl, Laurenthia I. Pinkham Oakland CA, Christopher A. Arnold, Puyallup, WA, Sophie L Russell, Tacoma, WA Cashmere W. Russell, Tacoma, WA, Annie Bond, Berkeley, CA and a great-grandson: Finn T. Mason, Orange Park, Fl. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, July 30th at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Tacoma WA. Remembrances may be made in Lillian M Russell's name to: Tacoma Orthopedic Association or Lakewood Elks Lodge #2388.
