Lillian Moon-Myers' Obituary
LILLIAN MOON-MYERS was born Lillian Elizabeth Gilmore in Ravenna, Texas on October 4, 1922 to Raymond Douglas and Ova Click Gilmore. Â"DimpleÂ" as she affectionately became known by her family and friends had three brothers, Ray, L.T. and Ralph. She was raised on the family farm during the depression. To help supplement income, the family worked in the cotton fields. A story mom affectionately told was while her brothers labored in the cotton fields she found herself a shady spot to spend the day. Her brothers worked not only to fill their cotton bags but to also fill her bags so she wouldnÂ't get in trouble for not working!!! MomÂ's brothers were very protective of her and worked hard to make her life easier on the farm. Lillian had two children, Jimmy and Sharon. The light of her life was her only grandchild, Haley. She spent many hours on her living room floor playing Barbies (most of which she probably bought) with Haley. They shared a very special relationship and blessed each other in many ways. Lillian retired after 26 years from federal civil service at Fort Lewis where she worked as a budget analyst. She had previously worked in the insurance business. She was a skilled seamstress and spent many hours sewing for her family. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Alvin Moon, in 1973. They traveled a number of places during his military career finally settling in Tacoma in 1956 where she has lived since. She married Stan Myers in June 1984. She was a member of Little Church on the Prairie for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband Stan, children Jimmy Cockrill (Rhonda), Texas; Sharon Vendetti (Rick), Tacoma; granddaughter Haley Vendetti, Tacoma; brothers L.T. Gilmore and Ralph Gilmore both of Texas; sisters-in-law Arlene Gilmore (Alabama) and Muriel Moon (Colorado) & two special nieces and their families, Linda Holmes (Jack, Christina & Rebecca) and Becky Davidson (Mike & Emily). She was preceded in death by her oldest brother Ray Gilmore (husband of Arlene & father of Linda & Becky).
