Lillian G Marshall's Obituary
Lillian Gjefle Marshall born May 5, 1924 passed away peacefully away on May 19, 2014 shortly after her 90th birthday. Born in Waukon, Iowa, Lillian (Jeff) moved to Tacoma with a friend from Iowa in the early 1940s searching for “adventure” and “a way to get away from the farm and cows”. She found both, living in Tacoma, Fircrest and, for the last 58 years, University Place. Her loving husband of 66 years, Stanley Marshall, passed away last August, leaving a void too large to fill. Survived by son Gary (Linda); grandchildren Jamie Valenzuela (Hector) and Trent; and great granddaughters Sophie and Ellie Valenzuela. For the past few months Lillian’s biggest smiles were reserved for newborn Ellie.
Lillian’s outgoing, friendly, smiling, caring personality will be missed by family, friends and all who met her. While leaving the farm was her goal, returning to Northeast Iowa many times to visit her sisters Arlene Thies and Norma Gress were always great times.
Lillian was a consummate homemaker; cooking, knitting, sewing, and urban “farming”, all done with great skill and passion.
Lillian was a very early and active member of Mount Cross Lutheran Church in University Place, serving as church secretary for many years. Her humor and wit was much admired and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. She is now going to be with “Papa” again.
The family will be having a graveside memorial at Mountain View Memorial Park on June 17, 2014 at 10:30am.
