Liliana Tipton's Obituary
Liliana Tipton peacefully returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on October 12, 2013. Liliana was born to Lucia Agretti and Riccardo Fillippi on June 26, 1921 in Rome, Italy. At the age of 6, she was placed with the Collection of the Nuns of the Precious Heart of Saint Eufemia, where she stayed until she was 18 years of age. She was hired in 1945 as a civilian stenographer for the American Occupational Forces in Rome, where she met and then married Ralph E. Tipton on February 22, 1947. They were transferred stateside later that year to Fort Lewis, WA; Donna Clare (Ralph's daughter) joined the family where Richard L. was born in 1949. Their next duty station was in Camp Roberts, CA where Ralph Jr. was born in 1952. Later that year, the family was transferred to Foreign Service in Linz, Austria with many side trips back to Rome and returning in 1955 to an assignment in Camp Hanford, WA. Their next tour was in Fort Riley, Kansas, where she received her US Citizenship. Liliana and Ralph returned to Europe in 1959 with an assignment to Munich, Germany where the family spent summer vacations in Rome. Their last duty station was back to Fort Lewis, WA in early 1964. She has lived in Tacoma, WA since that time, and worked for over 20 years at Saint Joseph's Medical Hospital. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Ralph Tipton Sr., grandson Shad Tipton, brother, Cesare, and is survived by her sons Richard (Barb) and Ralph Jr. (Monica) Tipton, and daughter Donna Campbell (Rush) and all of her loving and devoted family in Italy. She was a loving 'Nonna' to 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who experienced her charisma and passion.
