Lewis W. Drury's Obituary
Lewis (Lew) W. Drury
On the morning of Jan.21, 2009 Lew took a peaceful stroll down the golden path that lead him to heaven and when the pearly gates opened he was greeted by his father, Stanley Drury, mother, Lela Wilde, step father, Walter Wilde, sister, Bernice McWold, brother, Raymond Drury, and his mother and father-in-law, Mike V. and Dorothy S. Manza who preceded him in death. Lew was born in LaGrande, Iowa Sept. 19, 1930, and as a young boy moved with his family out to Washington where he attended school, completed it at Rochester High School. He then joined the U. S. Navy where he served aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Boxer for four years. Upon discharge he enrolled at Tacoma Vocational School where he met and later married the love of his life, Marilyn Manza. Lew worked for Boeing, while attending school, then for Puget Sound Casket Co. in Tacoma. When he moved to Littlerock, Wa. in 1974 he was employed by Calvary Cemetery and the Tumwater School District, as a bus driver for 18 years and a State certified Driver/Trainer Instructor. He loved to travel and his last trip was a very special cruise to Alaska for his 50th Wedding Anniversary. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 166 and a lifetime member of the U.S.S. Boxer Veteran's Associatio. He was loved and will be missed by so many, but none as much as his loving devoted wife Marilyn and his brother-in-law James (Jimmie) Manza of the home. He also is survived by two nephews .
