Leta Phillips was born and raised in Dash Point, WA. Leta graduated from Stadium High School. She married at 18 to Fred Bartlett, the raised their daughters Sharline Gail (Bartlett) Close, who preceded Leta in death, and Sherry Ellen (Bartlett) Sparks.
Leta’s career started at Mount Rainier Ordinance Depot as a federal employee as a GS1. After 40 years, she reached the level of GS13. She traveled the world and was on the ground floor of learning coding for programs for the government. Leta returned to WA where she met Lawrence Wilson, they were together until Larry’s passing.
Leta was an amazing woman who never did anything halfway. She could remodel her home, build a deck, fly a plane, skin dive, avid golfer, gourmet cook, design and sew her own clothes but her biggest achievement was the love for her family. A wonderful mother, wife, and friend. She touched so many people and was so loved by the staff at Melody Adult Family Home, run by Ruth Wainaine and husband Francis. Her year and a half there was so wonderful and her happiness made her passing peaceful.
