Leslie Lorraine Hart-Stensgaard's Obituary
Leslie Lorraine Hart-Stensgaard passed away on Friday January 9, 2004 after a battle with cancer. She was born in Blackfoot, ID on May 19, 1923 to Grace and Carl Trolin. Leslie moved to Tacoma from Spokane in 1963. She was a member of Lake City Community Church in Lakewood since 1964. In Spokane she was active in pre-school and PTA and was den mother for the Cub Scouts. Leslie taught Sunday school at Emmanuel Baptist Church (Spokane) and Lake City Community Church for many years. She was an avid volunteer for Cherrydale Elementary School in Steilacoom; Tacoma Baptist School, and Wildwood Elementary in Puyallup until 2003. She was a block leader for Safe Streets in Lakewood and block captain of Block Watch in Puyallup. Leslie retired from the JC Penney Company in 1986.Leslie had a full and vibrant life until the very end and was said to be a Â"giver of energyÂ" at the hospital. The day before she passed she was still directing and organizing her family and giving instructions for her final wishes. She continued to sing the praises of Rainier Oncology, Dr. Ronald Goldberg, his nurses, and Beth. Leslie was larger than life Â- her wisdom and faith in God made her the foundation from which her family relied upon. She always made herself available to family, friends, and those in need. Her grandsons were the light of her life.Leslie loved to socialize. She loved cooking and was famous for her apple pie. She loved to garden and flowers were guaranteed to put a smile on her face. She will be remembered for her positive outlook on life and willingness to give. She is survived by her husband Lester, married in 1993; her son Larry D. Hart and wife Roberta, Portland; daughter Linda M. Hitchins, Tacoma; grandsons: Wade Deary, Tacoma, Benjamin Hitchins, Tacoma; brother Neil B. Trolin, Colorado Springs, CO; sister Betty Hite and husband Russ, Spokane; nephews: David Hite, Portland, Jeff Hite (Laurie), Spokane, Derek Hite, Spokane, Michael Hart (Tina), Post Falls, ID; niece Melissa Hart; sister-in-law Christina Scheller, Kellog, ID.Memorial services at Lake City Community Church, 8810 Lawndale Ave. SW, Tacoma, WA 98498, Friday Jan. 16, 2004 at 1pm. Memorials maybe made to Lake City ChurchÂ's Building Fund.
