Leslie Clarence Armstrong's Obituary
Les was born to Leslie and Lavina Armstrong on February 9, 1920 in Orin, WA. He passed away October 4, 2005 at Franciscan Hospice in Tacoma, WA. Les married Gladys Johnson on May 28, 1949 and they enjoyed over 40 years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, his sister Dolly, and his brother George. Les is survived by his children: Doug (Corky), Janet, Dennis (Linda), Greg (Karen), and David (Peggy); 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lorraine King.Les served in the Coast Guard from 1941-1946, serving in the Pacific and European Theaters on the General Hugh L. Scott. He was a carpenter for Sutherlands and Custom Craft. Les finished his career at the Tacoma News Tribune as the Building Superintendent. Les liked camping with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, trips to Reno/Tahoe, and doing small projects for family and community members.A celebration of LesÂ's life will be held from 12:00 Â- 6:00 PM, Sunday, Oct 16, 2005, at the FiremanÂ's Hall, 1109 South 50th St, Tacoma.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franciscan Hospice of Tacoma in LesÂ's name. The family would like to thank the staff at the Franciscan Hospice for the wonderful care that was provided to our dad.Â"Musing on drifting clouds and lazy streams, he leaned against the radiators and watched the clattering mob pass by.Â"
