Leroy William Lotz's Obituary
Leroy William Lotz passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, at the age of 84, surrounded by loving family.
Leroy was married to the love of his life, Marlene, for 64 years. He is survived by his wife, Marlene; his daughter, Cheri Beatty, and son-in-law, Randy; his son, Bob Lotz, and his daughter-in-law, Laura; his grandchildren: Jeff Beatty and his wife, Melissa; Melissa McGehee; Meagan Donathan and her husband, Jory; Kelli Thompson and her husband Allan; Scott Lotz and his wife, Kaitlyn; his great-grandchildren: Bailey Losey, Ayden Beatty, Ava Beatty, Ellie Thompson, Callie Lotz, and Marshall Donathan; his sister, Diane Mabbott, and her husband Everett; and other wonderful extended family members.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Violet Lotz.
Leroy was born on July 18, 1939, at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, WA. He lived his entire life in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. His sister, Diane, was the one who introduced him to Marlene. Leroy and Marlene fell in love and married in 1959. Leroy worked hard to provide for his family and was a Marksman in the National Guard. He also built mattresses at Spring Air Mattresses, worked at Western State Hospital, and was an automotive machinist.
Leroy's true passion lay in building and restoring classic cars. Although he was a self-taught mechanic, his skill and talent were unmatched, and he created showroom quality restorations, pouring love and hard work into every aspect of his projects. His most prized restorations include a home-built 1923 Roadster T-Bucket, a 1937 Chevy sedan, a 1970 Chevelle and a 1948 two-door Chevy sedan.
As years went by, Leroy shifted his car building talents to constructing top-tier large-scale radio control airplanes.
Leroy was a loving, quiet, and humble man, and he will be truly missed by all.
Leroy will be buried at Mountain View Cemetery, and, per his wishes, the family will not host any services.
"Love you more, honey."
