Leroy Edward Kennedy's Obituary
LeRoy Edward Kennedy
Like Mt. Rainier and rain in June, Lee was a constant. Someone you could count on.
Born January 3, 1922, Lee was the oldest of 9 children with a father whose health issues made being the big brother more significant.
When LeRoy graduated from Lincoln in 1939 his income was essential to the family. Like so many of his generation, he served in WWII. After seeing a lot of the South Pacific from the deck of an LST, he was a proud member of "the class of 46." He fell in love with Marylouise Pelle, and on his birthday in 1953 he and Mary married. That day he became the father of two little girls, and the following year added a son.
Lee was a meatcutter. Whether behind the counter at his own shop in Milton or in Tacoma at Sibs, Park n Shop, Mayfair, or Lucky Foods, he always had a fast knife and a ready smile. In his retirement, he was a great spectator. He followed the Cougs, loved the Seahawks, and was an absolute fanatic about his grandkids.
From the first tiny ballerina through high school football, he and Mary were always there. He was interested in people; he listened and remembered. That trait endeared him to his customers, his family, the folks at the Sr. Center where he enjoyed his Wednesday lunches, and even friends of his grandkids. He loved his lake cabin, he loved his dog, and he loved his family... and we loved him.
We're going to miss him. He was preceded in death by his wife Marylouise, his parents Agnes and Ed, all eight of his siblings, Phyllis, Lloyd, Dorothy, Francis, Pauline, Gerald, Marlene, and Donald, his daughter Marianne, and grandson Sam. He leaves behind his daughter Eileen Dickson, son Kevin (Laurie), grandchildren Megan, Riley, and Jake (Kelsey), great-granddaughter Avery, and Chihuahua Jefe. In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone today.
