Leroy G. Dube Jr.'s Obituary
After a two-year battle with cancer, Leroy peacefully passed away on New Years Morning 2024. He was surrounded by family when he passed. During his cancer journey, Leroy’s goal was to make positive memories with every family member, friend, and stranger he came across--he certainly accomplished that goal. It is a rare thing to come across a person who is sincere, kind, genuine, empathetic, smart as a whip, hilarious, gracious, goofy, fun, enthusiastic, and possesses the uncanny ability to negotiate well enough to make both sides feel like a winner; Leroy was that person!
Leroy was born in Colorado Springs, CO November 3, 1962. He lived in Germany as a child, and his family settled in Newport News, VA when he was a teenager. After graduating from high school, Leroy joined the Air Force and truly traveled the world! He landed at McChord Air Force Base where Leroy met and married Sharon Rowell. They made their home in Spanaway and had two children, Annemarie and Jacob. Leroy retired from the United States Air Force in 2004, though he continued to work on base full time as a TA Contractor at McChord Field. During this time in in his life, one of the biggest heart breaks Leroy endured was watching Sharon struggle and then pass from cancer in December 2010. When caring for Sharon, Leroy had a front row seat to the devastation cancer causes, which he never forgot.
Leroy met Cami Trueba on October 9, 2011. They blended their families, and in the past twelve years had many fun adventures together with Leroy at the helm making that fun happen. Leroy loved being a grandpa, and he would make sure to have fun activities planned for the grandkids every time they were together. Leroy also became a part of Cami’s extended family, the Duvalls, who welcomed him with open arms, and during Leroy’s decline, the Duvall’s threw him a “Christmas Party” on December 15th. This was Leroy’s “Make a Wish” come true. As a result Leory adopted the mindset that Family is not always blood, Family is those who show up for you!
Leroy is proceeded in death by his sister Debby Dube, and late wife Sharon Dube. Leroy is survived by his wife, Cami Trueba-Dube, Daughter Annemarie Dube, Son Jacob Dube, Stepdaughter Melissa Crane (Brandon Crane), Stepson Jordan Trueba, Stepson John-Coal Mills (Tori Santori-Mills), Grandchildren Wesley Crane & Ava Crane. Sister Sandra Rozier (Todd Mize), and nieces and nephews.
In Leroy’s memory please make a point to make good memories with everyone and put a smile on their face.
