Leroy Buckley Jr.'s Obituary
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you, and whispered "Come to me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we love you dearly daddy, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us… He only takes the best.

Leroy Buckley Jr. was born and raised in New Orleans, on August 10th 1950, to the late Mary Dunmore Buckley & late Leroy Buckley Sr.
Leroy graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and then entered the military shortly after at the tender age of eighteen. Two years later, Leroy married his high school sweetheart, Amaralize ” Mary” Buckley. They had four beautiful children during their 25 year marriage.
While in the military, he was stationed in Germany, Fort Lewis, Texas, Korea & Ft. Lewis (now JBLM) where he retired after serving 22 years as a respected First Sergeant.
Leroy served proudly as a Mason with his masonic brothers in Spanaway. He played semi-pro football, enjoyed cooking, collecting guns and cars (both classic and antique). He found solace in reading, studying various cultures and religions, learning new things and having intellectual conversations on any subjects presented with his daughters. He loved listening to and singing his old school music, R & B, and blues while repairing his cars, and also sharing special moments fishing with his sons and close friends. His biggest joy was spending time and spoiling his grandkids.
After retirement, Leroy continued his career as a state employee for the Dept. of Corrections for 10+ years. Leroy, then traveled to reconnect with family and friends as he always envisioned. After becoming ill, he resided with his eldest daughter in Tacoma Washington.
Leroy passed with his four loving children by his side… His family, both immediate and extended was his pride and joy. He will be truly missed and loved forever.

Job 14:14,15
If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.
Your son,
Wayne.
