Leota R. Johnson's Obituary
Leota Ruth Layton-Johnson
April 14, 1920 - April 3, 2010
Leota was born in Fruita, Colorado and moved about 30 times with her family from Colorado to Florida and many states in between, wherever there was work on farms, ranches and logging camps. She was the 9th of 11. In her youngest years she traveled with her family in covered wagons. The family finally settled in Yakima, Washington, where she met her first husband. She lived in Southern California for several years, then moved back to Yakima with her son. Following WWII, on a blind date arranged by her brother Arlie, Leota met her husband of 42 years, Bob Layton. They lived a life full of love for family and friends. She filled her days with gardening, sewing and cooking, making sure that her home was full of beauty, love and care. She passed on to her children the values of faith, hard work, integrity, love and respect for others, through the shining example of her own life. Leota lost Bob in 1991, but was blessed with a loving 10 year marriage to Orland Johnson. Again, she filled their home with love for family which included gardening, sewing and cooking which she used to serve others until the day she was called home to be with her Lord. Leota is survived by her husband Orland, sisters; Irene and Evelyn, 3 children; George D Walker, Patty Layton-Croen and Jeffrey Layton; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 step children; Judy Hall, Patricia Jungwirth and Douglas Johnson, 4 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many step great-great grandchildren.
