Leonor Taguba Dalo
Born in Aparri, Cagayan, Philippines on November 27,1931, Leonor Taguba Dalo passed on
peacefully at home on December 2, 2016. She was one of nine children of Laureana (nee Fidel) and Demetrio Taguba, Sr. After graduating from High School as Valedictorian, she attended the prestigious Philippine Normal College/University in Manila. She earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education garnering the honors of Cum Laude.
Leonor emigrated to the western world via Canada and on to the U.S.as a Foreign Exchange Scholar, School of Home Economics, University of Washington, Seattle where she eventually
met and married Pedro E. Dalo, a U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer, in 1964 in Tacoma, Washington. Besides a short but happy five years of marriage, Leonor taught school for 30 years with the Clover Park School District. She retired in 1994 from Hillside Elementary School on Fort Lewis. Always wanting to improve her teaching skills, especially on how to more effectively reach the children with special needs, Leonor enrolled and earned an M.A. in Special Education from Pacific Lutheran University. Leonor had served the Filipino-American Organization and the Filipino-American Community of Pierce County, Inc. in different capacities.
Since retiring, Leonor spent much of her time traveling. She has set foot on the seven continents of the earth. Her flower garden, meticulously tended, bespeak of another passion of hers.
Leonor was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and five siblings; Rosalind, Paz, Lirio, Rebecca and Manuel. She is survived by siblings; Grace, Erlinda and Demetrio, Jr, numerous nieces and nephews and three stepchildren; Susan Dalo Langley (Charles) of Tacoma, WA, Pauline Dalo Cobert of Port Orange, FL and Dolores Dalo McGaugley (Hadley) of Lake Forest, CA.
