Leone Kadarkay's Obituary
Leone Kadarkay peacefully and gracefully passed as she lived her life, surrounded by loved ones on May 25, 2015 in Lakewood, Washington. Born January 24, 1938 in New Westminster, Canada, Leone was one of ten children. She met her soul mate, Arpad Kadarkay, a Hungarian immigrant, in Canada on a blind date. They married June 24, 1961. Between the two of them they had ten dollars and a VW bug. In 1963, they moved to Los Angeles and became American citizens. Leone and Arpad were married for 53 years. She was often referred to as St. Leone for her incredible patience with her absent-minded professor husband. Beloved by her family, Leone is survived by her husband Arpad, daughter Andrea and son-in-law Larry Pratt, daughter Marcella (Dodd) Middleton, son Arpad Kadarkay Jr., grandchildren Nichole Dodd, Ciera Sedar, Loyal (Tyler) Dodd, Chelsea Pratt, Desiree Westfall, Jason Pratt, and great granddaughters Madisynn Westfall, Lana Sedar. Beautiful, brilliant, witty, loving, a consummate hostess and always gracious, Leone created a home filled with love, laughter, patience, and strength. With her husband and family, she extensively traveled through Europe from 1969 through 2007. Her Scottish MacNeil Clan genealogy was a passion, especially the MacNeil Pipers. More than anything, she adored her husband and family, and loved to plan events where her famous dishes fed an army. Leone loved the Arts, to sing, paint, and knit. A pure, noble soul, she loved unconditionally, her door was always open; the family anchor, greatest champion, and her husband’s beloved companion and eternal love.
A memorial will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Kilworth Memorial Chapel (address below), University of Puget Sound.
