Leonard “Bud” Starr LTC, USAF Ret
Leonard “Bud” Starr was born in Gardner, KS, April 23, 1933 and passed away at his home in Lakewood on July 30, 2013. He grew up in Paola, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas. While serving as an Air Force meteorologist for twenty-three years, he also received degrees from Penn State and Oregon State.
After retirement he worked at H&R Block for many years. He served both as an elder and a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a member of Little Church on the Prairie.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Carol; sons Rob (Connie) of Incline Village, NV, and Kent of Tacoma; daughter Jane (Robert) and grandchildren, Kevin, Michael and Jacob Starr of Lakewood; sister Lou (Roy) Gering, Sun City West, AZ; nephew Doug (Suk-King) Gering, Berkeley, CA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M on August 16 at Little Church on the Prairie, 6310 Motor Ave SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. Memorials may be made to the Church’s Deacons’ Fund.
