"GG"Leola, age 90, walked into the loving arms of the Father on July 4, 2004. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, January 27, 1914. She came to Tacoma at the age of 3 where she was raised by her mother and loving step-father.Leola married Everett H. Loomis at the age of 18 in 1932 after she graduated from Lincoln High School. After her husband passed away unexpectedly, Leola took the civil service test and landed a job with the Internal Revenue Service from where she retired after working in Salt Lake City, Fresno, and finally Kirkland. She then moved back home to live out her life in Fircrest. Leola enjoyed reading, gardening, squirrels and birds. Leola had the gift of generosity and grace and supported the Tacoma Rescue Mission, the Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Jude ChildrenÂ's Foundation, and the Boys Ranch.Leola was blessed to see five generations. She loved her family and laughing children. Leola was kind to everyone and taught us mercy and tenderness to the trials of others.Leola leaves behind her loving family, daughter, Marilyn Foster (Russ); granddaughters Susan Catalano (Todd), and Sharon Nord (Mike); grandson, Charles Brong; 5 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.In addition, the Melvin-Hurnblad family will greatly miss Leola;including Grace, Douglas, and Edith Hurnblad- Smith.
