Leo Stagg's Obituary
Our beloved Father and your dear Friend Leo Stagg Jr. answered the home going call from labor to reward early Thursdaymorning on September 26th, 2013. For the record, and for those that knew him, he was nothing short of amazing. Leo Stagg Jr.was born in small town Beaumont, Texas on July 11th, 1931 by way of his loving father Leo Stagg Sr. and mother Minerva Stagg. Leo was blessed with fantastic health, a charismatic personality, and a wonderful family tree full of family members and friends that loved him dearly and gave him a lifetime filled with good times and memories. Leo was the 2nd oldest in his family of six children. His oldest brother Obie and the third oldest LT already passed away. Family members that remain here today to witness this day of Leos’ “going home celebration” are his two sisters and youngest brother Ella Mae Landry (James), Annie Bell Davis (Elam), and Murphy Stagg(Fannie). Blessed also to have had Leo in their lives and also among us to witness Leo’s celebratory day are his oldest SonJohnny (Stacey) only daughter Vande Marie (Jerry), Farris, Obie(Mindy), Ubie (Merna), and his youngest son Richard (Kelly). At the time of his call Leo was married to his loving wife Micha Stagg. Leo was also survived by his first wife and mother of his children Wanda Frison-Stagg. Needless to say Leo was ablessed grandfather and a great grandfather with 7 grandchildren (Felix, Vaughn, Michael, Jamell, Shane, Spencer, and Sterling) and 3 great grandchildren (Nathanial, Arius, and Raven Amber). All of the above named and many more nieces, nephews, and countless friends witnessed firsthand the goodness and love Leo expressed as only Leo could in his dynamic way.
More importantly though we would be remiss if we did not emphasize that just as Leo served in the Army of the United State for several years during the 50’s, Leo also was ever presentand serving as a soldier in the Army of the Lord our God withhis Savior Jesus Christ. Throughout his life Leo gave countless hours of prayers for those in need, visits to the sick, bible studiesfor those that would hear the word of the Lord, and countless acts of selfless giving to many that knew him and many others that were strangers to Jesus Christ. He attended numerous churches throughout his life. He trusted in God and Jesus with all his might. He truly loved God. As a father he was alighthouse (Our earthly beacon) even when we didn’t know we had one or needed one. He was our rock and our true north when we lost our footing or direction. His light and our good memories of him will continue to burn brightly in us forever. While raising his family, Leo worked tirelessly to provide for us. Most predominantly was his tenure of 30 years at Kaiser Aluminum where he retired truly a master of many trades. His love of the game of dominos served him well as countless witnessed his artful gamesmanship when he put his opponents in their rightful place. He truly was “Tacoma’s Own Domino King”.
Growing up in the Stagg family we cannot count the number of activities and events and words of encouragement and supportand love our Father poured upon each of us as he raised us. We all felt his presence and positive impact on our lives in many ways. And as this chapter in Leo’s life closes we know our lives are now an enriched testament of his presence in it as we live on in memory of him.
Leo, Dad & Our friend – We love you always and WILL miss you!
Let us all pray the next words Leo hears are from the book ofMathew 25:23 where His lord says unto him, well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
