Lela M. Anderson's Obituary
Lela Anderson went to be with the Lord. Born May 16, 1935, in Mobile AL and passed away Feb 19, 2024, in Steilacoom WA.
Lela worked in various occupations, but absolutely loved her job as the “Lunch Lady” for Salters Point Elementary School, where she retired from in 1998. She was widely known in the community as a “Garage Sale Queen.” She loved making people laugh and spreading joy to all she knew. She considered her role as Usher at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church as her calling from God.
She is preceded in death by her husband Willie J Anderson, her parents Fred and Marie Bettis, her brothers Jesse and John Bettis, her sisters Edna Johnson, Leona Neeley, and Ida Elliott. She is survived by her stepsister, Genesis Bettis and her stepdaughter, Pastor Janice Morrissette.
Survivors include her son Samuel Anderson (Jamie Nelson), daughter Audrey Law (Nathaniel Stringfield), and son Rodney Anderson, all of Steilacoom. Her grandchildren Regina Rogers (Seattle) and Austin Anderson (Davie, FL); and two great grandchildren.
Repast will be at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church following the memorial service.
