I too had only known Lee since last year, but had a wonderful time getting to know Lee on many of our car rides together to and from Civil War events. I will never forget the trip we took together to Oregon to participate on a Christian women’s conference. I came to admire her overcoming spirit through the many life adventures she shared and the truths of GodÂ’s kingdom she understood so well. Though she will be sorely missed by the 20th Maine members, I know she has found her place among the saints in heaven and is walking free of pain on the golden streets. Fair journey Lee!##imported-begin##Carrie Gove##imported-end##
Lee, I can just hear you laughing and imagine you dancing in heaven! Gone is your cane - your brace - now enjoying your reward! I've known Lee since 2001. She walked into the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Tacoma having recently returned to Washington from New York. She wanted to know if there was any way she could be of help. The Lord put it on my heart not to question - just invite her to serve. She possessed such a servants heart. She made herself available to care for the needs of women who walked into our centers. She knew and understood their hurt and she was able to give hope. I'll never forget the day when I walked into the parenting office and saw her with her arm around a young woman in tears - comforting and praying over her. That is just one of countless memories - the most treasured of all was her friendship; steadfast and sure. Our last conversation involved her strong desire to connect with her twin girls. They were always in her heart and loved them deeply. She knew it was the Lord who opened the door for this reunion- to fulfill the deepest desire of her heart. I am amazed at the timing! Till we meet again, Lee!##imported-begin##Ingrid Crosbie##imported-end##
My husband Paul and I have only know Lee for a little over a year. She joined the 20th Maine Civil War Reenactment group and such an addition she was! Lee took her passion and right from the beginning was able to take on a first person character is such a manner that she held some spell bound and many in tears re-telling the lives of the Black Americans prior to and during the Civil War period. I was able to escort Lee several times back and forth to the weekends and we had many enriching conversations and words of "life wisdoms". Lee will be greatly missed and remembered.##imported-begin##Robin Timmerman##imported-end##
Lee, you were a good playmate. We will miss you at the Rose Boarding House and at all the Civil War reenacting events. You provided us with a much needed perspective. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.##imported-begin##Christy & Mike Gillen##imported-end##
